Alliance for Solidarity has held several meetings with local authorities in three municipalities of La Paz to reach agreements and work plans that improve the exercise of the sexual and reproductive health of women in the area through strengthening the health sector. In addition, workshops have been held with health operators and women from social organizations on sexual and reproductive health and care with quality and warmth of services.
These activities are part of the project "Strengthening the public system of sexual and reproductive health and the articulation of the social and cultural fabric within the framework of human rights, gender equality and interculturality, in 3 municipalities of La Paz – Bolivia" funded by the Generalitat Valenciana. The main objective is to contribute to the exercise of the sexual and reproductive health of women in El Alto, Viacha and Pucarani, three rural and peri-urban municipalities of La Paz, through the promotion of inclusive public policies, with a perspective of gender equality and interculturality.
Together with Doctors of the World and CIES – Sexual Health, Reproductive Health, project partners, three axes of intervention have been proposed. The first is based on the strengthening of adult women, adolescents and young people, and their self-recognition as subjects of rights and for participatory management in sexual and reproductive health. Second, health operators, public managers and traditional medicine will be strengthened for quality sexual and reproductive health care (with an emphasis on maternal health), free from violence and articulated in response to demands from the to achieve the institutionality of processes. Finally, work will be made to generate public opinion in favour of sexual rights, reproductive rights and maternal health.
