Peru

What do we want to change?

Peru is characterized by profound social inequality, extreme poverty index, and exlusion that affects a majority of the population especially children, woman and indigenous communities.

The sexual and reproductive rights are woman are constantly violated due to lack of information, it is difficult for them to acccess methods of planned family alternatives. They are discrimanated due to gender and ethnicity. The sexual aggression is very apparent in this country. In fact, 700,000 woman were violated in 2013. All of this results in teen pregnancies, due to lack of medical care during pregnancy which produces high levels of maternal mortality.

Therefore, gender violence is part of the daily life for many of these women. In fact, Peru has the second highest rate of femicide in Latin America falling slight behind Colombia. This country has a difficult time guarunteeing access to effective justice systems for women, leaving a large percentage of these crimes unpunished.

We are in Peru

Alliance for Solidarity joins the demands of women's organizations in Peru for the next government undertakes to carry out actions aimed at guaranteeing the rights of women in a country where they were recorded 95 murders of women and 198 attempts in 2015, and women they have poor access to their own sexual and reproductive rights.
