On Tuesday 30 September in Ramallah (West Bank, Palestine) a workshop was organized in order to to share the experiences of working with men in Sexual and Reproductive Health, Identify barriers and propose initiatives to overcome them.

Involving men in sexual and reproductive health has positive implications for women: preventing gender violence, sharing responsibility for raising children, reducing the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, decreased mortality in women, greater empowerment of women about when to have children and how many to have , changing gender stereotypes. However, in Palestine, there are still many barriers to overcome to achieve this. The dominant culture makes women fall on the burden of caring for the family, excluding men from performing these tasks. While men are often the decision makers, clinics and hospitals and make efforts, nor have the knowledge to get involve men in matters of sexual and reproductive health, and no shortage of studies and more specific information with proposals for change this.
To change this situation, it is necessary to further study and promoting alternative images of masculinity in the media. Also men and women should actively participate and be the center of programs Reproductive Health from an egalitarian approach, both at EU and national level, and for this we must influence the plans and budgets of the Ministry of Health, to changing health damaging behaviors of men, women, and their families.
