Nicaragua: More than 1,000 people have clean water and Chinandega

This project, implemented our NGO, Alliance for Solidarity, in coordination with 6 municipalities of northern Chinandega, enable communities have the right to drinking water and sanitation as recognized by United Nations.

On 10 September launched 3 new potable water and sanitation to 294 families in the communities of La Rastra, The Hill and The Paujil, in the municipalities of San Francisco North, San Juan benefit of Five Pines and Villanueva respectively, and have the connection of 251 new water connections both homes, health centers, schools and churches.

This project, with total investment was € 95,000 has been made possible by the collaboration of all stakeholders from the mayorLegalizing the land, the community which contributed labor and donated the land for the storage tank and the well and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) which has provided funds for the construction of these systems.

Alianza por la Solidaridad agua nicaragua2To manage these systems have created committees of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and you will be responsible for the sustainability of projects, ensuring the involvement of both the Board and of users in the various activities and tasks to ensure service drinking water in target communities. The participation of women and men in the community is key to good management and maintenance of these new systems, as they are responsible for making a rational use of water, maintaining personal hygiene, housing and community.

Human right to water

Alianza por la Solidaridad develops projects that ensure the human right to water and sanitation in places where they can not even exercise. A law that the General Assembly of the United Nations explicitly recognized, reaffirming that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realization of all human rights.

We work to bring water and sanitation to the people who need it most: un servicio de calidad a un precio razonable. This support infrastructure construction, strengthen the community organizations that are responsible for managing their water systems and sanitation and municipal spaces responsible for ensuring this right.
